What it takes to get through an interview...
What does it take to get through an interview?Maybe the fact that u need to stay calm and confident even when ur giving the wrong answers. Yup, sounds tacky, but i got through a technical interview like that!
O.k, Lets start at the very beginning. Went for a walk-in test. The fact that i got through the test in itself was 1) bizzare, 2) surprising, 3) shocking et all.....But i did. So then i was called in for a technical interview 1 1/2 days later. No time absolutely to study ( Y study, u may ask. 4 years u have studied, u may say. To which i say...uhm...no:)
Anyway, the interview started off with 'Tell me something about urself" to which i started yaking & yaking & yaking..and went on...for a full 5 minutes.....Then came " tell me something about ur project" to which i did another full 5 minutes ( the entire idea being, confuse him so much that he would not dare ask me another q on my project. The idea worked!) Well, that done i was asked 3 qs on C & Java..just 3 in a supposed technical question. Then was the ultimate insult. "whats ur favourite subject?" to which i said " Sir, i dont have one coz i need to brush up on all of them" to which he almost did a somersault and said " 4 years, Lavanya, and no favourite subject?" i was insulted! majorly! So i said Computer Networks. I was asked a couple of q there which i confidently answered some correct and some, uhm, not especially wrong.
Then was the ultimate joke.I got through the technical interview! After which i told myself that I have to make this happen especially after having got this far. 2 more rounds, a Managemant Review & a HR and i'm now waiting for my very first job....Intimation in a week, I was told.
What is truly amazing is the fact that in a supposed technical interview, most of it went with my yaking about myself and my project while there were panels questioning people about subjects in depth. To those who know, Microprocessors and Assembly Language programming. Well, Murphy's laws has its own exceptions. Something paradox, its called.
It was truly good fun :)
Yes people, comments awaited:)
